Community Rallies to Save Snooker at Buckie Legion Club

A community campaign has been launched to restore the much-loved snooker facilities at the Royal British Legion Scotland (Buckie Branch) Club – and locals are being urged to get behind the cause.

The club has set up a Crowdfunder campaign to raise essential funds for the refurbishment of its three full-sized snooker tables, which have seen decades of use and are now in urgent need of professional repair. The tables have been at the heart of the club’s social scene, providing a welcoming and affordable space for players of all ages and abilities to enjoy the game.

“These tables have been part of Buckie life for generations,” said a spokesperson for the branch committee. “They’re not just for sport — they’re a meeting point, a place to relax, and a valued feature of our community.”

The goal is to raise £2,000, which will go directly toward the cost of recovering the tables, replacing worn components, and ensuring they are fit for years of future use. Contributions of any amount are welcome, and every donation – large or small – brings the project closer to the finish line.

The initiative forms part of the club’s broader efforts to revitalise its facilities and attract new members, especially younger generations who may be discovering snooker for the first time. The refurbishment will also ensure the club can continue hosting local competitions, friendly games, and community events.

Supporters can donate via the official Crowdfunder page at:

Those unable to donate are encouraged to spread the word by sharing the link on social media or telling friends and neighbours.

“This is about more than tables and cues,” the spokesperson added. “It’s about keeping a community tradition alive. With a little help, we can make sure these tables continue to bring people together.”
